Lessons Learned from 3,500 feet Above

As I reflect back now in the summer months when cold weather, snow suits, and snow seem so far away, it reminds me of the 6 lessons from skiing a mountain in snowy BC that can be applied to public speaking:

1) push yourself outside of your comfort zone;

2) say yes to things even if they make you feel uncomfortable;

3) collect your thoughts and prepare yourself mentally and physically;

4) do it when you're ready;

5) be slow and steady, calm and composed;

6) enjoy the anxious and nervous feelings because they will soon turn to excitement once you have accomplished what you set out to do and the eagerness to want to do it all over again will consume you soon after!
